JALALABAD, Afghanistan, March 19 (Xinhua) -- Afghanistan's eastern Nangarhar province has put 521 infrastructure projects into operation after completing the construction work, state-run media Bakhtar News Agency has reported.

The projects with a cost of over 9.9 million U.S. dollars involve roads, water canals, retaining walls, culverts, small water dams, and power supply networks funded by the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), said the report on Monday, citing a government official.

Similarly, 331 development projects worth over 6 million U.S. dollars have begun operation after the construction work was completed in the eastern Khost province.

Since assuming power in August 2021 in the wake of the withdrawal of U.S.-led troops, the Afghan caretaker government has launched numerous infrastructure projects to improve the living conditions of people in various areas of the war-torn country. Enditem
