KUALA LUMPUR, March 25 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's inflation in February edged up 1.8 percent from a year ago, official data showed Monday.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that the increase of inflation in February was driven by the price of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, which rose 2.7 percent.

The other groups leading the inflation were recreation, sport and culture, up 1.6 percent, and transport, up 1.2 percent.

Overall, monthly inflation continued to show an increase of 0.5 percent.

Core inflation remained the same rate as in January at 1.8 percent. Enditem
