KABUL, April 9 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan security forces have beefed up security measures ahead of Eid al-Fitr as police personnel has been deployed around mosques, recreational parks and sensitive areas to check any possible security incident.

Like Muslims in other parts of the world, the people of Afghanistan will celebrate Eid al-Fitr on Wednesday to mark the end of the Islamic fasting month of Ramadan.

Afghans enjoy the three-day holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which is the second-largest annual religious festival when people make peace with foes in the family, clan and tribes, visit each other's houses to bring harmony in society and arrange traditional games such as wrestling and Buzkashi, or goat grabbing.

Media outlets including official radio, TV channels and private ones would air and broadcast entertainment programs during Eid al-Fitr festivals. Enditem
