KABUL -- At least 50 people were killed and 185 others injured in road accidents during the four-day Eid al-Fitr holiday beginning on April 10 across Afghanistan, the country's General Directorate of Traffic Police said Monday.

CHICAGO -- A nine-year-old girl was killed and 10 other people, including three children, were injured in a shooting on the South Side of Chicago Saturday night, local media reported.
The shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. local time (0220 GMT). CANBERRA -- The Chinese student who was injured in the recent stabbing at a shopping center in Sydney on Saturday has received medical treatment and is not in a life-threatening condition, the Chinese Embassy in Australia and the Chinese Consulate-General in Sydney said Monday.
