MOSCOW, May 15 (Xinhua) -- Russia's defense and security spending in 2024 will amount to nearly 9 percent of the country's GDP, Russian President Vladimir Putin said Wednesday.
"In 2024, this year, our total spending on defense and security will be approximately 8.7 percent, maybe a little more," Putin said during a meeting with the commanders of military districts.
At the meeting, Putin said Andrei Belousov has been newly appointed defense minister "due not least to the fact that spending on the military component is growing."
Belousov understands how to integrate the military economy into the country's general economy, which is extremely important, Putin added. Enditem
