KAMPALA, May 27 (Xinhua) -- Six players from India have stormed into the men's quarterfinals at the ongoing ITF World Junior Tennis Tour-J30 in Uganda.
At the Lugogo Tennis Club in Kampala, India's Nishat Arimili was first to play and he eased past Ugandan player Henry Kissnger 6-0, 6-0. Arimili's compatriot Megh Patel Maulik defeated Rwanda's Bian Karenzi 6-2, 7-5.
India's Sumukh Marya overcame Kenya's Raqueem Virani Virani 6-4, 6-3, while India's Rahul Lokesh beat Marvin Lukwago of Uganda 6-4, 6-3.
The other two Indian players, Aadityarraj Iyengar and Shounak Chatterjee, also made it to the quarterfinals.
Alvin Mboijana, CEO of the Uganda Tennis Association (UTA), told Xinhua that they are happy the tournament has started well and gives the local players a chance to improve against top players from other countries and regions.
Featuring men's and women's singles and doubles categories, the tournament will run till June 2, attracting players from Uganda, Kenya, Botswana, Rwanda, India, Ireland, France, England, the United States, Burundi, Japan, Spain, Poland and Hong Kong, China. Enditem
