BISHKEK, June 1 (Xinhua) -- Six members of the Hizb ut-Tahrir religious extremist organization have been detained in southern Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the country's State Committee for National Security said Saturday.

Six adherents of the banned organization, who actively advocated for extremist ideology, were detained in the Suzak district of the Jalal-Abad region on Friday, the press service said.

Extremist literature, leaflets, mobile phones and electronic media containing extremist content were seized from the detainees, it added.

To recruit new members into the organization, the detainees systematically spread extremist ideology among the local population. Enditem
