SEOUL, June 5 (Xinhua) -- Up to 16 percent of South Korean workers changed jobs in 2022 on strong demand among those in their 20s for the move to a different job, statistical office data showed Wednesday.
The number of employees, who were registered for four social insurances, totaled 26,057,000 in 2022, up 2.2 percent compared to the previous year, according to Statistics Korea.
Of the total, 16.0 percent, or 4,159,000 workers, changed their jobs in 2022, up 5.0 percent from a year earlier.
The number of those who maintained jobs was 17,987,000, or 69.0 percent of the total, in the cited year, while 15.0 percent constituted newly registered workers.
By age, 22.1 percent of those aged 15-29 moved to a different job, posting the highest turnover rate. It was followed by those in their 30s with 16.6 percent and those aged 60 or older with 14.7 percent.
By type, incorporated enterprises marked the highest turnover rate of 20.4 percent, while unincorporated associations and the government logged the highest job-maintaining rate of 79.1 percent. Enditem
