ULAN BATOR, June 6 (Xinhua) -- The ninth International Conference of the Ulan Bator Dialogue mulled over Northeast Asian security in the Mongolian capital of Ulan Bator on Thursday.

During the opening ceremony, Mongolian Foreign Minister Batmunkh Battsetseg highlighted Mongolia's commitment to a peaceful, open and multi-pillar foreign policy.

"Contributing to the peace and security of Northeast Asia has long been a core priority of Mongolia's foreign policy. A key priority of the dialogue is the promotion of confidence-building measures to reduce tensions and enhance stability in the region," said Battsetseg.

The dialogue serves as a crucial platform for open and constructive discussions among regional stakeholders, addressing security challenges in Northeast Asia, she said, noting that through sustained engagement and collective actions, countries can promote dialogue, cooperation and understanding, ultimately paving the way for a more peaceful and prosperous Northeast Asia.

At the two-day event, the participants are anticipated to engage in discussions concerning security challenges and opportunities in Northeast Asia, multilateral cooperation, climate change in the region, secure and affordable energy transition, as well as the development of sustainable and resilient value chains for critical energy transition.

The annual conference has attracted over 200 representatives from more than 30 countries and 10 international organizations as well as scholars and researchers. Enditem
