NAIROBI, June 6 (Xinhua) -- Kenya on Thursday launched the National Education Sector Strategic Plan to guide the country in providing accessible, equitable and quality education and training over the next five years.

Ezekiel Machogu, cabinet secretary of the Ministry of Education, told journalists in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi that the blueprint provides a roadmap for an education system that nurtures the potential of every learner, irrespective of their background and abilities.

"The plan will also be instrumental in assisting the country to meet international obligations such as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of ensuring inclusive and equitable education that promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all," Machogu said.

He added that the strategy will provide procedures to ensure that Kenya invests in learning infrastructure, especially in the integration of technology, to facilitate better instruction even for students in remote areas.

Machogu noted that the blueprint aims to ensure the effective implementation of learner support services, including guidance, counseling, career services, and mentorship programs to empower learners to maintain focus in pursuit of talents and life goals. Enditem
