TEHRAN -- A senior Iranian official said on Friday that Bahrain has requested to normalize relations with Iran after an eight-year diplomatic freeze.

Mohammad Jamshidi, the Iranian president's deputy chief of staff for political affairs, made the remarks in a live televised interview, while commenting on the incumbent administration's foreign policy. (Iran-Bahrain-Ties)

STOCKHOLM -- Denmark's Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen was hit by a man in central Copenhagen on Friday and the man has been arrested, Ritzau news agency reported.

Frederiksen was reportedly "shocked" by the incident. Copenhagen police has confirmed the incident but refused to give more comment, Swedish Television (SVT) reported. (Denmark-PM-attacked)

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi group on Friday claimed responsibility for launching missile and drone attacks against two commercial vessels in the Red Sea.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement that the attacks targeted two ships belonging to companies that violated the Houthi decision to ban entry to Israeli ports. He identified the ships as Elbella and AAL GENOA. (Yemen-Houthis-Attack)

JERUSALEM -- Israel's health and environmental protection ministries announced on Friday the detection of mosquitoes carrying the West Nile virus in the Southern Sharon Regional Council, located near the West Bank border.

The council, encompassing 31 villages and settlements, has been directed to intensify mosquito monitoring and implement immediate extermination measures in affected areas, according to a joint statement from the ministries. (West Nile virus-Israel) Enditem
