PARIS -- French President Emmanuel Macron announced the dissolution of the National Assembly Sunday evening, following defeat of his party in 2024 European Parliament elections, according to a live broadcast of local media BFMTV.
"I have decided to give you back the choice of your parliamentary future through the vote. I am therefore dissolving the National Assembly this evening," Macron said in a short speech. (France-Elections)

BRUSSELS -- The center-right European People's Party (EPP) is projected to remain the largest party group in the 2024 European Parliament (EP) election, securing 181 seats, according to the EP's first aggregated results estimate on Sunday.
The center-left Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats (S&D) follows with 135 seats, while Renew Europe is the third-largest group with 82 seats, the estimated results showed. (EU-Elections)

BRUSSELS -- Due to his Open VLD party's disappointing performance in legislative elections, Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo announced Sunday evening that he would resign starting June 10.

JERUSALEM -- Israel's centrist War Cabinet Minister, Benny Gantz, announced his resignation from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's emergency government on Sunday and called for new elections.
