YAOUNDE, June 14 (Xinhua) -- The Cameroonian army announced Friday that its troops have killed a separatist commander in the country's war-torn English-speaking region of Southwest.
The commander, who referred to himself as "general black bat," was killed after the military launched an offensive in Boa Bakundu locality of the region late Thursday.
"Black bat" was commanding a "dangerous" group of fighters in the region and was responsible for the death of several civilians and soldiers, the army said.
Fighting between government forces and separatist fighters has continued in Cameroon's two English-speaking regions of Northwest and Southwest since 2017 when separatists sought to establish an independent nation in these areas. Enditem
