MANILA -- Twenty-one of the 22 Filipino seafarers on board a commercial ship attacked in the Red Sea earlier this week have been rescued and safe, the Philippines' Department of Migrant Workers chief said Saturday.

Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Cacdac told a forum that "combined international forces rescued and extracted the 21 Filipino seafarers from the ship," referring to the Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned bulk carrier MV Tutor that was attacked on Wednesday. (Philippines-Sailor-Red Sea)

NEW DELHI -- At least 12 persons died and a dozen others were injured when the bus they were aboard fell into a deep gorge in India's northern hilly state of Uttarakhand on Saturday, a local police officer told Xinhua over phone.

The officer said that a couple of passengers went missing and it was feared that they might have been drowned in Alaknanda river which flows just next to the spot of the accident. (India-Traffic Accident)

SINGAPORE -- Oil spillage was observed along beaches on Singapore's resort Sentosa island and the waters were closed for clean-up works, the island management authority said Saturday.
