YANGON, June 20 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's security personnel foiled on Wednesday a bank robbery in Sagaing Town of Sagaing Region, killing one suspect, the state-run daily The Mirror reported on Thursday.

According to the report, four armed men on two motorcycles arrived at a bank in Sagaing Town at around 4:30 p.m. local time on Wednesday and attempted to rob it.

Local security personnel, after receiving information about the robbery, raided the bank to arrest the suspects. One of the suspects was fatally shot by the security personnel, the report said.

The security personnel also seized a homemade pistol, nine 9 mm bullets, a bomb and two motorcycles during the operation, the report added.

Investigations revealed that the suspected robbers are members of the People's Defence Force (PDF) in Sagaing, it said.

Further security measures are ongoing to apprehend the escaped suspects, the report added. Enditem
