SEOUL -- South Korea's employment growth stayed below 100,000 for the second straight month due to a rapid fall in youth jobs, statistical office data showed Wednesday.

The number of employed people aged 15 or older rose 96,000 over the year to 28,907,000 in June after growing 80,000 in the previous month, according to Statistics Korea. (South Korea-Employment, ROUNDUP)

NEW DELHI -- At least 18 people were killed and 19 others injured Wednesday after a double-decker bus carrying them crashed into a milk tanker in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, police said.

The accident took place on the Lucknow-Agra expressway near Gadha village in Unnao district, about 68 km west of Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh. (India-Road-Accident)

SINGAPORE -- Singapore will cease registering new diesel cars and taxis from 2025 to support its cleaner energy vision, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) said Wednesday.

BANGKOK -- The Election Commission of Thailand on Wednesday endorsed the results of the senate election after a delay due to complaints over the qualifications of some senators-elect and voting irregularities.

The commission agreed to certify the list of 200 senators and 99 reserve candidates, commission Secretary General Sawaeng Boonmee told a news conference, paving the way for the newly elected lawmakers to enter the upper house of parliament. (Thailand-Election Results)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's trade with China has enjoyed a strong growth in the first half of 2024, said an official report released on Wednesday.

The two-way trade volume hit 7.31 billion U.S. dollars during the January-June period this year, significantly up 18.8 percent from 6.15 billion dollars over the same period last year, said the General Department of Customs and Excise's report.

China remained the top trading partner of Cambodia, followed by the United States, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan, the report said. (Cambodia-China-Trade)

TOKYO -- The assembly of Japan's southernmost prefecture Okinawa on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution and a statement protesting a series of recent sexual crime cases involving U.S. troops stationed in the prefecture.

In the resolution, addressed to the United States, including U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel, the assembly condemned the cases as "extremely malicious crimes that trample on human dignity" and expressed "anger from all our bodies." (Japan-Okinawa-U.S. Troops-Crime) Enditem
