TEHRAN, July 15 (Xinhua) -- Azerbaijan's embassy in Iran's capital Tehran resumed operations on Monday after nearly a year and a half, the Iranian Students' News Agency (ISNA) reported.
According to ISNA, the reopening of the embassy, which has been transferred to a new location in Tehran, took place after negotiations between Iran and Azerbaijan over the past months.
Azerbaijan decided to close its embassy in Iran following an armed attack on the diplomatic mission on Jan. 27, 2023, which killed a staff member and injured two others.
In a statement published on its website, Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry also confirmed the embassy's reopening, saying that "diplomatic staff have returned to Iran."
The statement said this was after "Iran took appropriate measures" to ensure security in front of the new embassy. Enditem
