BORDEAUX, July 27 (Xinhua) -- Spain breezed into the Paris Olympics men's soccer quarterfinals after they defeated 10-man Dominican Republic 3-1 in a lopsided game on Saturday.

Spain, which beat Uzbekistan 2-1 on Wednesday in their first Group C game, opened scoring in the 24th minute through midfielder Fermin Lopez.

Dominican Republic pulled it level on their only shot on goal in the 38th minute when Angel Montes headed in a corner kick.

Seven minutes later, Dominican Republic forward Edison Azcona was sent off for kicking Spanish player Pau Cubarsi in the groin.

The Spanish side, which registered nine shots on target throughout the game, scored two goals in the second half respectively through Alex Baena in the 55th minute and Miguel Gutierrez in the 70th minute.

Spain, with two wins from as many games, will take on their last group rivals Egypt next Tuesday. Enditem
