NEW YORK, July 29 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar increased in late trading on Monday.
The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, went up 0.24 percent to 104.562 at 3:00 p.m. (1900 GMT).
In late New York trading, the euro declined to 1.0822 U.S. dollars from 1.0857 U.S. dollars in the previous session, and the British pound was down to 1.2864 U.S. dollars from 1.2872 U.S. dollars in the previous session.
The U.S. dollar bought 153.98 Japanese yen, higher than 153.73 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar advanced to 0.8863 Swiss francs from 0.8836 Swiss francs, and it added to 1.3852 Canadian dollars from 1.3838 Canadian dollars.
