FDI disbursement in Vietnam sets record in Jan.-July

HANOI, July 30 (Xinhua) -- Total foreign direct investment (FDI) disbursed in Vietnam in the first seven months of 2024 is estimated to rise 8.4 percent year-on-year to 12.25 billion U.S. dollars, a record for the seven-month period in five years, according to the General Statistics Office.

The processing-manufacturing sector saw the largest amount at 9.98 billion dollars.

It was followed by real estate business at 1.14 billion dollars, and production and distribution of electricity, gas, hot water, steam and air conditioning at 481.1 million dollars.

As of July 20, foreign investment in Vietnam reached over 18 billion dollars, a year-on-year increase of 10.9 percent, said the office.

Among the 62 countries and regions with newly-licensed projects in Vietnam in the first seven months of this year, Singapore ranked first with 4.55 billion dollars in investment. Enditem
