LUANDA, July 30 (Xinhua) -- The Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday hosted the second ministerial meeting on security and peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Luanda, Angola's capital, with the foreign ministers from the DRC and Rwanda in attendance.

According to a press release from the ministry, Angolan Foreign Minister Tete Antonio expressed his conviction that the parties would reach a consensus during the meeting, formulating concrete proposals aimed at restoring peace and silencing the guns in the eastern DRC.

The meeting lasted approximately one hour, however, no official information on the outcome was released.

Tuesday's meeting followed up on the ministerial session held on March 21 in Luanda, where the delegates agreed on the imperative of achieving sustainable peace in the eastern DRC, as well as promoting economic development and social well-being. The agreements involved ceasing hostilities, implementing a ceasefire, and disengaging forces.

Also on Tuesday, Angolan President Joao Lourenco met with Therese Kayikwamba Wagner and Olivier Nduhungirehe, the foreign ministers from the DRC and Rwandan, respectively. Lourenco is also the African Union-appointed facilitator for promoting dialogue between the DRC and Rwanda. Enditem
