PARIS, Aug. 1 (Xinhua) -- Skateboarder Sky Brown has confirmed she will compete in the Paris Olympic Games despite a dislocated shoulder that she suffered on Sunday.

16-year-old Brown, who is Britain's youngest ever medalist after winning bronze in Tokyo, explained to the BBC that she will need an operation after the Olympics to ensure the injury doesn't repeat itself.

"When I get back, I'll have to do surgery, so it doesn't come out again," she told the BBC, adding that she would need special strapping on her shoulder to compete.

"They're bringing some braces tomorrow (Friday) and I will try it out and have to be strapped for every time I skate."

She explained that the injury she suffered was "really scary (…) My shoulder being out and I couldn't get it back in. My dad put it in for me."

Brown has suffered several injuries during her career, tearing the medial collateral ligament in her right knee in April, and she qualified for Paris while wearing a knee support.

Meanwhile in 2020, she had a bad fall that saw her fracture her skull and also break her left wrist. Enditem
