GAZA -- At least eight Palestinians were killed in an Israeli airstrike on a vehicle carrying aid in central Gaza, Palestinian sources reported on Monday.

The vehicle was hit in the al-Matahen area, south of Deir al-Balah city, the sources told Xinhua. Medical officials confirmed that eight people died in the attack. (Gaza Strip-Hamas-Israel)

BEIRUT -- Two people were killed and two others injured Monday morning in an Israeli airstrike that targeted a border village in southern Lebanon, Lebanese military and medical sources said.

The Lebanese Ministry of Health said in a statement that "the Israeli enemy's raid on the village of Mays al-Jabal resulted in two martyrs in the vicinity of the village's cemetery." (Lebanon-Israeli Airstrike-Death)

NEW DELHI -- Bangladesh's resigned prime minister Sheikh Hasina reportedly landed at an airbase near New Delhi by a special military flight on Monday, after fleeing her country following violent protests.

"The aircraft carrying Sheikh Hasina landed at the Hindon airbase," claimed a TV report by the news channel "Aaj Tak". The Hindon airbase is situated in Ghaziabad, a city adjacent to New Delhi. (India-Hasina-Delhi)

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed sharply lower on Monday, with the benchmark Nikkei stock index sinking more than 12 percent, the worst intraday losses in history.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average plunged to its lowest level this year by ending the day at 31,458.42, down 4,451.28 points, or 12.40 percent from Friday, refreshing its record intraday drop which was previously seen at 3,836 points in the "Black Monday" crash in 1987.
