YANGON, Aug. 9 (Xinhua) -- Nine people were killed and 30 others injured in road accidents on Myanmar's Yangon-Mandalay Expressway in July, the state-run Myanmar Radio and Television reported on Friday.

A total of 16 road accidents occurred on the expressway in July, the report said. Drivers were advised to take extra caution during the rainy season, as the number of road accidents could increase during it.

The report said that traffic police were taking actions against drivers who overspeed on the expressway.

The 587-km expressway connects the country's commercial hub Yangon with its second-largest city Mandalay. Enditem
