India's forex reserves fall to 670 bln USD

NEW DELHI, Aug. 16 (Xinhua) -- India's foreign exchange reserves dropped 4.8 billion U.S. dollars to 670.119 billion dollars during the week ending on Aug. 9, the central bank said on Friday.

Foreign currency assets, a major component of forex reserves, declined 4.079 billion dollars to 587.96 billion dollars, the data showed.

Gold reserves decreased by 860 million dollars to 59.239 billion dollars during the week.

The decrease in forex reserves was recorded after a jump of 7.533 billion dollars in the previous week took forex reserves to an all-time high of 674.919 billion dollars. Enditem
