KUALA LUMPUR, Aug. 22 (Xinhua) -- Malaysia's labor productivity, as measured by value added per hour worked, grew 2.4 percent to 41.7 ringgit (9.52 U.S. dollars) per hour in the second quarter, underpinned by stronger economic growth, official data showed Thursday.

The Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM) said in a statement that Malaysia's labor productivity per employment recorded 3.1 percent growth to register 24,151 ringgit per person.

Malaysia's total hours worked also increased by 3.4 percent to register 9.6 billion hours.

"Malaysia's labor productivity is expected to post a better outlook in the coming quarters as Malaysia's economic performance is getting better supported by the positive performance in the labor market and growing business activities," said DOSM. Enditem
