SANAA -- Yemen's armed Houthi group on Thursday claimed responsibility for launching attacks against two ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Sarea said in a statement aired by Houthi-run al-Masirah TV that the group carried out two military operations in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden in support of Palestinians in Gaza and in response to American-British aggression against Yemen. BEIRUT -- The Lebanese Health Ministry announced Thursday that 564 deaths and 1,848 injuries were recorded from Oct. 8, 2023 to Tuesday due to Israeli raids and shelling targeting southern Lebanon and reaching the Bekaa Valley in the east of the country.

The ministry said in a report that 84 percent of the injuries were males, and 93 percent of them Lebanese, adding that 53 percent of the injuries were under the age of 44. (Lebanon-Israeli Airstrikes-Casualties)

GAZA -- The Palestinian death toll from ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip has risen to 40,265, Gaza-based health authorities said in a statement on Thursday.

RAMALLAH -- Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas issued a decree on Wednesday evening to form a committee to prepare for his visit to the Gaza Strip.
