Typhoon Shanshan is likely to strengthen in force due to high sea temperatures by Tuesday and approach western and eastern Japan, the JMA said.
Weather officials warned of lightning, gusts, hail and torrential rain over the weekend ahead of Shanshan's arrival, mainly on the Pacific side of western and eastern Japan.
Services on the Tokaido, Sanyo, Joetsu and Hokuriku Shinkansen bullet trains may be canceled or suspended on part or all of their sections around Tuesday and Wednesday as a precautionary measure, according to the train operators. Enditem
