RIGA, Aug. 23 (Xinhua) -- Officials from the Baltic states -- Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania -- have been negotiating the provision of critical medicines in crises, reported LETA, Latvia's national information agency.

On Friday, the Baltic States Working Group held a high-level meeting focused on strengthening the countries' resilience to crisis situations and ensuring the provision of critical medicines in the Baltic states.

During the meeting, the Baltic states shared their perspectives and proposals to enhance cooperation during crises, explored the possibility of aligning their critical medicine lists, and discussed the benefits of such synchronization.

In Latvia, the critical medicine list was developed by incorporating Ukraine's experiences with essential medicines needed in wartime conditions.

Additionally, Latvia plans to ensure medicine supplies at multiple levels -- including individual, medical institutions, and state levels -- and will seek international support when necessary.

The meeting also addressed the potential establishment of a Baltic mutual medical assistance plan and explored the interest of Lithuania and Estonia in collaborating with Latvian drug manufacturers to build and supply critical medicine stocks for crisis situations. Enditem
