KATHMANDU, Aug. 25 (Xinhua) -- Three houses were swept away by a landslide in central Nepal early Sunday morning, leaving six people dead and four others missing.

Another person was injured in the disaster sparked by hours-long torrential rain in Shailung Rural Municipality of Ramechhap district at around 03:00 a.m. local time.

"Our team is searching for the missing people," Kaushal Neupane, spokesperson for the district police, told Xinhua.

A bridge over a local stream was swept away by floods, making commuting with other parts of the district difficult, he said.

Monsoon rain-related disasters had left 195 people dead, 247 wounded and 49 others missing as of Friday, according to Nepal Police. Enditem
