COLOMBO, Aug. 28 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe on Wednesday inaugurated a 350-megawatt power plant that can be operated on liquefied natural gas (LNG), the president's media division said.

The power plant, located in Kerawalapitiya in the north of the capital Colombo, was the first such plant that can be operated on LNG.

The power plant was a significant infrastructure project aimed at expanding the country's electricity supply, which is essential for supporting Sri Lanka's long-term economic growth. Enditem
