ISLAMABAD -- Twelve people were killed when a landslide hit a house in Pakistan's northwest Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Friday morning, rescue teams said.

The accident happened in Upper Dir district where heavy monsoon rains have been pouring for the last few days, Rescue 1122, the state-run rescue organization, said in a statement. (Pakistan-Landslide)

BERLIN -- Germany on Friday deported Afghan nationals back to Afghanistan for the first time since August 2021.

According to government spokesperson Steffen Hebestreit, the deported individuals are all Afghan nationals convicted of crimes in Germany and have no right to remain in the country. (Germany-Society safety)

GABORONE -- Botswana health authorities announced on Thursday that four children, aged between three and nine, have died from diarrhea in August alone.

JERUSALEM -- Israel announced on Friday that it had killed Hamas' commander in Jenin, the West Bank, on the third day of one of its largest assaults in the Israeli-occupied territory in months.

In a joint statement, the Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet domestic security agency identified the commander as Wassem Hazem. BAMAKO -- Fourteen people were killed and 29 others injured, including 9 seriously, after two vehicles collided on Thursday morning in central Mali, according to a statement released by the Malian Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.

The accident occurred around 6 a.m. (0600 GMT) on Thursday on National Road Number 6 near the village of Fougani in central Mali. A bus heading towards the capital, Bamako, collided with a trailer truck traveling in the opposite direction, according to the statement. (Mali-Accident) Enditem
