JAKARTA, Aug. 31 (Xinhua) -- A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck Indonesia's eastern Papua province on Saturday, according to the country's meteorology, climatology and geophysics agency BMKG.

The quake occurred at 3:53 p.m. local time (0853 GMT), with the epicenter located 81 kilometers northwest of Keerom Regency at a depth of 93 kilometers, the agency said.

Yohanes, senior official of Papua's regional disaster management agency, told Xinhua that there was no report of damage or casualty in the tremor-hit areas.

Indonesia, situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, is prone to earthquakes due to its location in this seismically active region. Enditem
