GABORONE -- Botswana's ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) on Saturday confirmed that President Mokgweetsi Masisi will be its presidential candidate in the general elections scheduled for October.

DAR ES SALAAM -- Four people were killed, and 16 others injured in a road accident Saturday morning as they returned from a wedding ceremony in Tanzania, police said.

George Katabazi, the Dodoma regional police commander, said the accident occurred in Chamwino District, Dodoma Region at 6 a.m. when a minibus they were traveling in from the wedding collided head-on with a fuel tanker. (Tanzania-Accident-Collision)

SANAA -- Yemen's Houthi group claimed responsibility on Saturday for an attack on a cargo ship named "Groton" in the Gulf of Aden.

CAIRO -- Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly met his Somali counterpart Hamza Abdi Barre here on Saturday to discuss economic and security cooperation, according to a statement from the Egyptian cabinet.
