CARACAS, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Girona midfielder Yangel Herrera has been ruled out of Venezuela's World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Uruguay because of an adductor problem, the country's football federation said on Monday.
Herrera sustained the injury in the first half of Girona's 2-0 victory at Sevilla in La Liga on Sunday and was substituted at halftime.
The Venezuelan federation did not immediately name a replacement for the 26-year-old.
Venezuela will meet Bolivia in La Paz on Thursday and Uruguay in Maturin five days later.
The Vinotinto, the only South American side never to appear in a World Cup, are currently fourth in the 10-team South American zone standings with nine points from six qualifiers. Enditem
