PHNOM PENH, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia exported 412,023 tons of milled rice in the first eight months of 2024, earning a total revenue of 305 million U.S. dollars, the Cambodia Rice Federation said in a news release on Thursday.

Fifty-three companies shipped milled rice to 65 countries and regions during the January-August period, the news release said, adding that China was still one of the key buyers.

The kingdom exported 77,792 tons of milled rice to China during the above-mentioned period, making a gross revenue of almost 48.9 million dollars, the news release said.

Rice exports of the Southeast Asian country included fragrant rice, white rice, parboiled rice, and organic rice.

Im Rachna, an undersecretary of state and spokesperson for Cambodia's Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, said China is one of the major markets for Cambodian agricultural products.

"The purchase of our agricultural products by China and other friendly countries have significantly contributed to the development of Cambodia's agriculture and brought a lot of benefits to our people, especially farmers," she told Xinhua. Enditem
