MADRID, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Primoz Roglic (Red Bull- Bora Hansgrohe) took a huge stride towards winning the Vuelta a Espana (Tour of Spain) cycle race for the fourth time when he won the 19th stage on Friday to go into the overall leader's red jersey.
Roglic's Red Bull team had looked to control the 173.5-kilometer stage from Logrono to the Alto de Moncalvillo before viciously increasing the pace at the bottom of the 8.6 kilometers climb to the finish line.
Daniel Felipe Martinez, Aleksandr Vlasov all Florian Lipowitz helped provide the launchpad for Roglic, leaving him around 30 seconds ahead of the main group of favorites, including Ben O'Connor (Decathlon AG2R La Mondiale), Enrich Mas (Movistar), Richard Carapaz (EF Education-Easy Post).
Roglic kept up the pressure, taking the stage 46 seconds ahead of David Gaudu (Groupama-FDJ).
Saturday is arguably the toughest stage in the three weeks of the race with a mountaintop finish on the Picon Blanco among three first category climbs on a day the race has to cross a total of seven summits in a 172-kilometer stage. Enditem
