Mongolian powerlifter makes history with medals at 3 consecutive Paralympics

ULAN BATOR, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Mongolia's para-powerlifter Enkhbayar Sodnompiljee clinched a silver medal in the men's 107kg category at the Paris 2024 Paralympics on Sunday with a lift of 248kg, becoming the first Mongolian athlete to secure medals at the three consecutive Paralympics.

The 39-year-old previously won gold medal in the men's 107 kg category at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics with a lift of 245kg. He also earned a bronze medal in the men's 88kg event at the Rio 2016 Paralympics.

In the same category at Paris 2024, Iran's Aliakbar Gharibshahi won the gold medal with a lift of 252kg, breaking both Paralympic and world records, while Mexico's Jose Castillo took the bronze with a lift of 222kg. Enditem
