ISLAMABAD, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani security forces conducted an operation and killed two terrorists on Friday night in the Kalat district of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, the military said in a statement on Saturday evening.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan Army, said that the security forces launched an intelligence-based operation in the district on the reported presence of terrorists.

The ISPR said that during the operation, the troops surrounded and effectively engaged the terrorists' location and killed two terrorists.

"Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were also recovered from the killed terrorists," said the military, adding that the terrorists remained actively involved in numerous terrorist activities in the area against security forces as well as innocent civilians.

The ISPR added that a clearance operation is underway to neutralize any other terrorists present in the area.

"Security forces of Pakistan, in step with the nation, remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan," said the ISPR. Enditem
