LJUBLJANA, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- The 51st National Costumes and Clothing Heritage Day ended Sunday in Kamnik with a traditional parade.

During the three-day event, a number of music and folklore groups from Slovenia, Austria, Italy, Macedonia and Slovakia, presented nearly 20 free concerts and performances, attracting more than 30,000 Slovenians and tourists.

Kamnik, a town in northern Slovenia, is considered one of the most beautiful medieval towns in Slovenia.

In 2018, the event was listed among the 20 best traditional festivals in Europe by English daily newspaper The Guardian.

The parade was also the highlight of the festival, with about 2,000 participants dressed in national costumes walking through the center of Kamnik.

Slovenian female national costume features multiple layers of skirts, black shoes, a silk neck scarf and a bonnet or a mob cap. The male attire includes leather boots, a white embroidered cotton shirt, a jacket and a hat.

"We want to show as much as possible the diverse national cultural heritage related to costumes, songs, dances and music," the Kamnik Public Culture Institute said on its website. Enditem
