HANOI, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's national index of industrial production in August increased 2 percent against the previous month and 9.5 percent year on year, according to latest data released by the General Statistics Office.

In the first eight months of 2024, the index increased 8.6 percent year on year, said the office.

During the cited period, the processing and manufacturing sector went up by 9.7 percent while the electricity production and distribution sector expanded by 11.6 percent. The water supply and waste management sector increased by 7.8 percent.

The mineral exploitation sector reported a year-on-year decline of 6 percent during the cited period.

The index of industrial production in the eight months increased in 61 localities nationwide and dropped in two others, according to the office. Enditem
