6 injured over multi-vehicle collision in central Japan

TOKYO, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) - Six people were injured after a traffic accident involving six vehicles occurred Monday on an expressway in the central Japanese prefecture of Shiga Prefecture, according to local authorities.

At around 4:42 p.m. local time, authorities received an emergency call reporting that a truck has crashed into vehicles near the Shigaraki Interchange on the Shin-Meishin Expressway in the city of Koka.

The crash involved a truck equipped with a crane and five other vehicles, according to police.

Details about the extent of the injuries have not yet been released, with the cause of the accident still under investigation.

Traffic on the Shin-Meishin Expressway has been severely impacted, with lane closures in place as authorities worked to manage the situation and investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash. Enditem
