BRUSSELS, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Unions and management at Audi Brussels are scheduled to meet for talks over escalating tensions at the factory, the company confirmed on Tuesday.

The talks, scheduled for Wednesday at the Employment Ministry, will focus on concerns that have emerged over the past week regarding the plant's future, and recent disruptions to production, according to local media outlet RTL Info.

The tension began last week when Audi Brussels' production, which was set to resume after a two-month summer break, was halted. Workers were informed the day before that the factory would not receive a new model for assembly.

Union members responded by temporarily seizing the keys to over 200 cars that were ready for delivery. Management therefore shut down the plant and suspend wages, and now is considering legal action.

However, the company announced on Tuesday that no additional actions would be taken after the keys were returned.

The unions have called for Agoria, the federation representing technology companies, to step in and facilitate a return to dialogue.

The factory, which has focused on electric vehicle production since 2018, faces uncertainty after the announcement that no new flagship models will be produced beyond 2025. This has led to concerns among the factory's 3,000 employees about potential restructuring or closure. Enditem
