Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye sign joint protocol at trilateral defense meeting

BAKU, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Defense ministers from Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye met on Tuesday in the Georgian city of Batumi, and signed a trilateral protocol aimed at strengthening military ties and regional security, AZERTAC news agency reported, citing the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan's Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Türkiye's National Defense Minister Yaşar Güler, and Georgia's Defense Minister Irakli Chikovani participated in the high-level meeting.

During the talks, the ministers explored opportunities for further collaboration in military-technical fields, military education, and healthcare.

The discussions focused on modern security challenges and the importance of a coordinated approach to countering threats in the region. The ministers stressed the value of expanding joint military exercises and intensifying the exchange of expertise as critical elements in enhancing defense cooperation.

The officials expressed optimism that this trilateral defense collaboration would not only advance the security interests of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye but also contribute to long-term peace and stability across the region. Enditem
