HANOI, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's foreign trade turnover in 2024 is likely to break the record of 732 billion U.S. dollars in 2022 if the upward trend is sustained, local media reported Friday.
Both July and August witnessed Vietnam's monthly exports and imports exceeding 70 billion dollars each month, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
If the monthly turnover of 70 billion dollars is maintained, total exports and imports for the whole 2024 may exceed 790 billion dollars. If some industries are unable to maintain their performance, the figure may stand at 785-786 billion dollars, said the report.
Le Quoc Phuong, former deputy director of the ministry's Industry and Trade Information Center, said that together with industrial production, foreign trade was a bright spot in the eight-month economic panorama. Notably, agricultural products and minerals made up only 12 percent of total exports while industrial products more than 88 percent, he said. Enditem
