BEIRUT -- One person was killed and seven others were injured on Friday in an Israeli airstrike on a residential apartment in the town of Ahmadieh in southern Lebanon, according to Lebanese military sources.
The military sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that an Israeli drone fired two air-to-ground missiles at a residential apartment in a two-story building at the western entrance of Ahmadieh, partially destroying the building. CAIRO -- Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres discussed on Friday the latest developments in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli escalation in the West Bank.

TEHRAN -- Three Iranian border guards were killed and one civilian wounded on Thursday evening in a "terrorist" attack by gunmen in southeastern Iran's Sistan and Baluchestan province, the semi-official Mehr news agency reported Friday.
The three victims, one officer named Amin Narouei and two conscript soldiers named Parsa Soozani and Amir Ebrahimzadeh, were refueling at a gas station in Mirjaveh county when a group of "unidentified armed individuals" opened fire on them, Mehr quoted Mehdi Shamsabadi, prosecutor of the provincial capital of Zahedan, as saying. BAGHDAD -- Two army officers were killed and three soldiers wounded on Friday in an attack by the extremist Islamic State (IS) militants in the northern Iraqi province of Kirkuk, said a local security source.
