KABUL, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Afghan caretaker government's Ministry of Education has announced the hiring of 8,165 teachers and administrative staff members across the country, state-run Radio and Television of Afghanistan reported Monday.

Mawlawi Abdul Khaliq Sadeq, a deputy to the ministry, was quoted as saying that transparency would be assured in the examination process of the candidates, and anyone who passes the exam would be employed without bias.

More than 10 million children are currently attending state-owned and private schools in Afghanistan, according to the ministry.

Whether girls could continue education above grade seven was not mentioned in the report.

Based on restrictions by the Afghan caretaker government, girls cannot attend classes above grade seven until further notice. Enditem
