MANILA, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Vanuatu on Monday signed a grant agreement worth almost 16.5 million U.S. dollars to help fund a project designed to develop skills of Vanuatu's workers.

"This project is a response to Vanuatu's urgent need for skilled workers," said ADB Director General for the Pacific Leah Gutierrez.

The grant comes from the Asian Development Fund, which provides grants to ADB's poorest and most vulnerable members.

Through the ADB-supported project, the ADB said the grant will help bolster resilience by expanding and enhancing training opportunities at the Vanuatu Institute of Technology.

The project will introduce new courses, build new infrastructure, provide equipment and strengthen the institution and trainers. Enditem
