ISLAMABAD, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's textile exports surged by over 5 percent in the first two months of the current fiscal year starting from July 2024 to June 2025, compared to the same period of the last fiscal year, officials from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) said on Tuesday.

The textile exports were recorded at 2.92 billion U.S. dollars in July-August of the ongoing fiscal year 2024-2025 as against the exports of 2.77 billion dollars in July-August of fiscal year 2023-24, showing growth of 5.37 percent, the PBS officials said.

On a year-on-year basis, the textile exports went up by 12.99 percent in August 2024 to 1.64 billion dollars against exports of 1.46 billion dollars in August 2023, according to the PBS.

The PBS said that cotton cloth, knit wear, bed wear, readymade garments, tents, canvas and tarpaulins were among the commodities that contributed to the trade growth in the textile sector. Enditem
