HANOI -- Vietnam's gold bar prices jumped 1.86 percent to 82 million Vietnamese dong (3,335 U.S. dollars) per tael Tuesday morning, the highest since June 1, VnExpress reported.

Saigon Jewelry Company (SJC) listed each tael of their gold at about 80 million (3,252 dollars) for sellers and 82 million dong for buyers on Tuesday morning. The prices went up 1.5 million dong (61 dollars) per tael compared to the previous day, Vietnam News Agency reported. (Vietnam-Gold Prices)

KABUL -- About 9,000 foreign tourists visited Afghanistan over the past 12 months, data from the country's Ministry of Information and Culture showed on Tuesday.

TOKYO -- The operator of the crippled Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant said Tuesday that the project to extract melted fuel debris from one of the destroyed reactors was suspended due to a camera glitch.

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TEPCO) has been unable to receive images from cameras on a device that was supposed to retrieve a small amount of melted fuel from the No. 2 reactor of the plant, bringing a stop to the project, the utility said. (Japan-TEPCO)

NEW DELHI -- India's wholesale price index declined to 1.31 percent in August, data released by the federal ministry of commerce and industry said Tuesday.
